The
oldest document where a reference to "the castle of the Orzali
Island" is mentioned has been found and copied at the State
Archive in Macerata. This is a parchment dated 1171 available there.
Orzali discovered.
Some Orzali leaving in Argentina not present in our genealogical tree
have contacted our website, as like as a new relative with an Orzali
mother from Florence in Italy.

The research of information concerning Pedro Orzali, object of an
article on the New York Times dated 15th November 1860, did not
have success altough the help of the New York Arcidiocesis and
of 10 churches in Manhattan, where our relative was living
when Louis Larome sent him a challenge to fight a duel.
The story had an end in front to a Magistrate with Larome's apologies.

A connection has
been established between some families named Orzalli (double ell) and the Orzali.
The connection is a new Orzali branch we found in Tereglio (LU) with
informations available down late 1600.
From there hemigrants went into United States in early 1900 changing
later their family name into Orzalli

Gianfranco
Orzali,
during last 2007 symposium, reported a new information he has got in
Syria:
"Some syrians told me that Orzala
is a local name for a bamboo veranda in time past built in their
homes. The specialized workers that made the Orzala were called
Orzali."
Do we all come from Syria?....we hope to discover more

Villa Orzali, located in Lucca at the 27 of
Via Matteo, was designed and built for himself in 1894 by Modesto Orzali, Gaetano's father and brother
of Achille.
No rilevant modifications occured from the time of its construction.
Todays is a private property and no visit are allowed.
Modesto was also the designer of the chalet Martini on the Viareggio
walkway (1899-1901).
The Croce di Brancoli (Brancoli
Cross), 18,30
meters high, was built with local stones in the 1901 basing on a
design of Ing.Gaetano Orzali and Arch.Achille Orzali direction on the
area originally of a Tower for optical emergency signals.
That Tower, with a16,20 meter diameter and 94 cm wall thickness
protected with two armed guards, was built in 1594 to transmit optical
signals coming from the Tower of the Goverment in Lucca to other
towers there around.
In the 1944 the Cross originally built by the Orzali was pulled down
by the German Army in order to eliminate a possible reference point to
Allied Army.
A new fully cemnet Cross has been built in 1958.
The
Libertas Basket Club in Lucca is organizing a Giuseppe Orzali Trophy for basket teams of under 13th years old plaiers
since 1987.
The Orzala Courtyard is a place close to Brancoli
(LU).
Is is
currently in activity a professional school named Escuela de Formación
Profesional Monseñor “José Américo Orzali” with course in
book-keeping, administration, bank tecniques, photography, english,
etc.
In
sect.4 of the Green Hill Cemetery in Greensboro Nord Carolina are present the
tombs of Annie Wyatt Orzali (04 Oct. 1866 / 21 Dec. 1942) John Orzali
(29 Jun 1854 /02 Aug 1924) and Stella Allen Orzali (1898 / 1910).

A "Orzale" group of
houses is
present in the small village of Neviano degli Arduini (PR) as
like as in Castiglion Fiorentino.
The
"Monte
Orzale" hill in Loiano (BO) is the location for the Loiano
station of the Astronomic Observatory of Bologna.
On
10th March 1912, age 49, Josè Amerigo Orzali is ordinated Bishop of San Juan de Cuyo in
Argentina.
On 20th April 1934 he will be ordinated Archibishop.
He found the Hermanas de Nuestra Señora del Rosario in Buenos Aires.
A cause of beatification has been started and accepted in March 2002.
